The Jeff Floyd era at Truman got off to a inauspicious start as the Patriots lost 45-6 on the road at Ruskin.

Truman (0-1) trailed 26-6 at halftime before allowing 19 unanswered points in the second half.

“It was disappointing,” first-year head coach Floyd said. “I told the kids I didn’t do a good job of preparing them, and that’s the truth. There were some good things, but in the second half things got away from us a little bit.”

Safety Heath Mackey scored Truman’s only touchdown on a 14-yard fumble return in the first quarter.

OAK GROVE 21, LEXINGTON 14: The losing streak is over.

Two third-quarter touchdowns lifted the Panthers to a 21-14 victory at Lexington.

Oak Grove, which went 0-10 last season, received third-quarter touchdowns from Brycen Mackison and Dylan Stiegemeier. Zach Taylor ran for a two-point conversion and Zach Lehman kicked an extra point.

Oak Grove took a 6-0 opening-quarter lead on Taylor’s 41-yard pass to Levi Harmon. The extra point kick failed.

Josh Kaullen ran 8 yards and Jake Kaullen kicked the extra point as Lexington took a 7-6 lead later in the quarter.

In the second quarter, Tim Oetting ran 10 yards for a score and Jake Kaullen added the PAT.
