Senior Night went well for the Blue Springs boys tennis team. Five singles victories sparked a 7-2 Suburban Big Six victory over Raymore-Peculiar Monday.

Mitchell Wilhoit (6-2, 6-1), Sam Phillips (6-0, 6-1), Caleb Boyd (6-4, 6-4), Brice Webb (6-1, 6-0) and Greg Evans (5-7, 6-2, 10-2) prevailed in singles. Chad Stohlman and Boyd (10-6) and Webb and Evans (10-2) claimed doubles victories as Blue Springs evened its conference record at 2-2.

“It was good to get another conference win,” Blue Springs coach Jody McClain said. “We are working at getting better in doubles and closing out matches. It was a nice night for the four seniors.”

BARSTOW 7, GRAIN VALLEY 2: A talented Barstow team was too much for the visiting Eagles Monday.

Grain Valley’s only victories were by No. 2 singles player Lane Elliott (8-6) and the No. 1 doubles team of Elliott and Theo Nichols (10-8).

“It was good match for our guys,” Grain Valley coach Mary Elliott said.

Grain Valley’s junior varsity team earned a 5-4 win.
