  • Because of the inclement weather that has been predicted for Friday, the Suburban Big Six track and field conference meet has been moved to a 4:30 start tonight at Lee’s Summit High School while the Middle Seven meet has been moved up to 4 p.m. today at Staley High School.
“The meet will be varsity only, with no preliminary events,” Blue Springs activities director Frank Wheeler said. “The junior varsity conference meet will be next Tuesday at Lee’s Summit High School.”
Ed Brill, whose Lee’s Summit North girls team won the Rusty Hodge Memorial, the Gary Parker Invitational and the Bill Summa Relays, said he can’t recall a conference championship meet being moved because of weather.
“I can’t ever recall moving the conference meet up in the week,” Brill said. “But I think it’s a great move. It’s supposed to be nice on Tuesday and it will give the kids the best chance to go out and perform and not get injured because of the snow or rain they say is coming in later in the week.”
