  • Cub Scouts enjoy a special day of crafts and fun

  • The Cub Scouts of Pack 485 at Williams Yates Elementary in Independence, and their classmates, had a field day on Friday.
    They played games, made crafts, and played in a bounce house.
    Heather Lehman, a volunteer from Alpha Phi Omega, said “the best part for me was the kids smiling. They had a great time and their smiles are how I know it.”
    Alpha Phi Omega is the national service fraternity that is headquartered in Independence, and helps staff the event every year.
    This is the sixth annual Special Needs field Day hosted at Yates by Pack 485. The Pack is chartered by the friends of William Yates Elementary School is in its 13th year. Nearly all the boys in specialized instruction, from kindergarten to fifth grade, belong to the Pack.
