But unfortunately, the Eagles won’t be sending their team or any individual to state. Neither will Oak Grove.
Grain Valley shot 396 to finish eighth in the eight-team field. Pemroke Hill (312) and Excelsior Springs (338) earned the top two spots and the automatic team berths at Hidden Pines Country Club in Warrensburg.
Hunter Peterson came the closest to advancing, shooting 90 to finish two strokes off the cut of 88. Justin Driver shot 97, Kaylee Hutchens posted a 103 and Cameron Skinner shot 109 to complete Grain Valley’s scoring.
Oak Grove’s Bryce Mercer shot 93 to finish five strokes off the cut, while Quinton Bunyar shot 101 for the Panthers.
Pembroke Hill’s Preston Fleener and Excelsior Springs’ Austin Hardison each shot 74 to earn medalist honors.
TROJAN ADVANCES: St. Mary’s Kyle Osborn shot a 92 at Monday’s Class 1 Sectional 4 meet at par-72 Fairview Golf Course in St. Joseph to tie for 14th and qualify for state. He’ll compete in the Class 1 State Championships May 13 and 14 at Silo Ridge Golf Club in Bolivar.
