Melissa Fuerst appointed to U.S. Naval Academy

Congratulations, Karsen

Karsen Miller has been selected as a Prime Time Student of the Month.

Karsen is a second grader who attends the before and after school program at Lucy Franklin Elementary and enjoys gymnastics and baseball.

When asked what is most enjoyable about Prime Time, Karsen said “I like that you can do arts and crafts and play with your friends.”'

Osage Trail student council busy helping others

The Osage Trail Middle School Student Council has been hard at work raising money for a  different cause each month.

The students have raised $385 for ALS, $400 for breast cancer and $400 for Down Syndrome.
Upcoming  charities include the Buckner food pantry, leukemia, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, autism and Special Olympics.

Melissa Fuerst appointed to U.S. Naval Academy

Congressman Ike Skelton, D-Lexington, has announced that Melissa L. Fuerst, Blue Springs, has received an appointment to attend the U.S. Naval Academy. Fuerst will graduate from Blue Springs High School in May.

Skelton submits nominations to the Naval Academy and the academy selects the top qualified nominees for appointment.

Fuerst has excelled academically and is a member of the National Honor Society. She also participated in cross country and track at Blue Springs High School and attended Girls State. Other activities include being active in community affairs and other student organizations and activities.
