  • The 14th annual Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity Concert is at 7 p.m. Sunday at Beacon Heights Community of Christ Church, 19402 E. Holke Road, Independence. The fundraising concert, held for years at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Independence, was moved to Beacon Heights four years ago to accommodate larger crowds.
Among those performing at the St. Michael’s choir, the Beacon Heights choir and a group from Northern Boulevard United Methodist Church in Independence. There will also be a flute ensemble with members of various Community of Christ congregations, a piano duet from Cornerstone Community of Christ and a trumpet quintet from the Stone Church.
There is no admission fee, but free-will donations will be collected. The program ends around 8:30, followed by a reception with cookies and punch.
Child care is provided during the concert. In 2012, the concert raised more than $2,100, a record. As an example, Habitat says, think in terms of donating $10 for a box of nails, $35 for a box of roof shingles or $75 for one window.
