A Missouri teenager has been sentenced to five years' probation and about four months in jail for a single-vehicle accident that killed his 18-year-old friend.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports that 17-year-old Dylan Scott Pierce, of DeKalb, Mo., pleaded guilty in May to involuntary manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old Cole Patrick, of St. Joseph. Authorities said Pierce was intoxicated when he was driving with Patrick and another passenger when the accident occurred in December 2012.
Patrick died at the scene.
The sentenced also requires Pierce to get court approval to drive, maintain no contact with the Patrick family and do 250 hours of community service.
