  • Independence is going to the dogs this weekend during the “Dog Days” event on the Independence Square.


    The event, which is in conjunction with the Square’s “Dog Days of Summer” sale, is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The event is free and open to the public.

  • Independence is going to the dogs this weekend during the “Dog Days” event on the Independence Square.
    The event, which is in conjunction with the Square’s “Dog Days of Summer” sale, is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The event is free and open to the public.
    There will be a variety of activities for owners and their dogs including a pageant with several different categories as well as prizes for each winner.
    The Great Plans SPCA will also be on-site during the event hosting a dog adoption event and sharing information about responsible dog ownership.
    At Gilbert Whitney & Co., owners will have the opportunity to make homemade dog treats for their companion and there will be dog art at Primary Colors Gallery. There will also be a photo opportunity in front of El Pico restaurant for owners and their dogs to get a snapshot of their day together.
    The sale continues through Saturday and includes deep discounts at many of the merchants including Wild About Harry, BeHereNow and Gilbert Whitney & Co., among others.
