The Honorable Vernon E. Scoville III, 68, a resident of Blue Springs, MO, passed away peacefully Monday, April 4, 2022 at his home. He was born August 17, 1953 to Vernon II and Billie (Wright) in Kansas City, MO.

Vernon graduated in 1971 from Ruskin High School in Kansas City, MO. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Vernon was united in marriage to Diane Goerdt on May 2, 1980 in Kanas City, MO. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri Kansas City School Of Law. Vernon worked as an Associate Circuit Court Judge for the State of Missouri for 22 years before his retirement in 2013. He was also a Missouri State Representative for 10 years.

Vernon was a Freemason at East Gate Lodge #630. He enjoyed following politics, playing with his dog Rubi Rose, and tinkering around the home.

Survived by his mother, Billie Scoville of Lee’s Summit, MO; daughter, Rebecca Scoville and her partner, Nick Bruscato of Blue Springs, MO; son, Christopher Scoville of Durham, NC; sister, Linda Scoville-Miller; and grandson, Maddox Schonfeldt. Vernon is preceded in death by his wife, Diane Scoville; father, Vernon Scoville II; and sister, Glenda May.

His family will receive friends and family from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2022 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, MO. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Veterans Community Project: veteranscommunityproject.org.
