Marjorie a. Hammond was born on July 2, 1932 in Sullivan, Ill. to Elmer H. Wood and Marjorie W. Wood. Marjorie grew up in Sullivan and later went to the University of Illinois. She received her BS from the University of Illinois. After graduation she worked in St. Louis, Mo. for three years. At that point Marjorie decided to make a career change and become a teacher. She attended UMKC and received her MS there. She taught 3rd grade one year in the Kansas City Missouri School District. Marjorie then changed to the Independence School District where she taught for 27 years. Marjorie taught at Noland and Santa Fe Trail Schools.

Marjorie married V. Clark (Corky) Hammond on June 24, 1962. Marjorie and Clark lived in Kansas City, Mo. their entire married life.

Services will be at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. Visitation: June 20, 2022 – 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral: June 21, 2022 – 2 p.m.
