Donald Lee Dourty, 96, of Independence, MO., passed away July 21, 2022. Mr. Dourty was born January 11, 1926, in Rosedale, Kan., to Charles E. and Audry Dourty. He was a lifelong resident of Independence. He served in WWII in the South Pacific. When he returned, he met and married Evelyn A. Fletcher on March 29, 1949. They raised two sons, Bob and Don. Donald was active in Boy Scouts for 13 years with both sons attaining Eagle Scout. He retired in 1986 after 40 years with Kansas City Southern Railroad. He enjoyed fishing, camping and travel all over the United States with his wife Evelyn. He was baptized into the RLDS church.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A bill designed to encourage more semiconductor companies to build chip plants in the United States passed the Senate on Wednesday as lawmakers raced to finish work on a key priority of the Biden administration.
An initiative to legalize recreational marijuana use in Missouri will need help if it is going to be on the November ballot. Reports from every county in the state, delivered to Secretary of State John Ashcroft’s office, show the petition is short of its goal in two of the six congressional districts needed to qualify for the ballot.
