Chasing through every last rabbit hole

Much as I’d like to blame every modern social ill on social media – which is as easy as shooting fish in a barrel – I’m not sure that’s quite on the mark. All we could want is a tap or two away on those smart-smart things we still quaintly call “phones.” Your bank balance? Your 401(k) balance? Time and temp? Facebook, Instagram and the Next Big Thing.

Police OT report offers recommendations

In addition to his findings of inappropriate overtime use for an extensive police building renovation in Independence, special counsel Dan Nelson outlined several recommendations for City Hall. Nelson said a severe breakdown in communication between the Police Department and City Hall led to officers – one in particular – accumulating significant overtime pay to complete a renovation project that should have been bid out.
