Next Tuesday’s elections for the Missouri House of Representatives include a few contested primary races. The Examiner posed a short series of questions to candidates in those contested races whose districts are in Eastern Jackson County.
JEFFERSON CITY — With the nation teetering on the cusp of a recession, a group that tracks Missouri’s budget says Republican Gov. Mike Parson should ditch his plans to slash the state’s income tax rate.
House bill 1606, the legislation recently signed into law by Gov. Mike Parson that outlaws unauthorized sleeping or camping on state-owned lands, seemingly would affect the city of Independence, though City Manager Zach Walker said his office is still combing through the law and how it fits with the city’s homeless outreach efforts.
