Two car shows coming to the Square

Independence trims water park hours
Starting Monday, Adventure Oasis Water Park, will be open one less hour on weekdays. Instead of noon to 8 p.m., weekday open swim hours will be from noon to 7 p.m.
Dispute over fireworks sparked shooting, police say
Independence police say a racially tinged dispute about shooting off fireworks ultimately led to Tuesday afternoon’s shooting in which a man was seriously wounded. Jackson County prosecutors Wednesday charged Nakki White, 37, with first-degree assault and armed criminal action for allegedly shooting a neighbor on East Sea Avenue, near Woodlawn Cemetery and just off Noland Road.
