By Dave Matter St. Louis Post-Dispatch COLUMBIA, Mo. — Asked to describe his freshman season in one word, Missouri wide receiver Dominic Lovett chose a word that might surprise some. “One word? I will say ... outstanding,” the sophomore said this week. “Outstanding. Just coming from high school and going to the college level ... some freshmen are fortunate to even be on the field.” Lovett’s production last fall was hardly outstanding, especially measured against the expectations for the four-star playmaker from East St. Louis. Lovett started six games as a rookie, but his role fluctuated from week to week. His 278 total snaps ranked fourth among the team’s receivers, per Pro Football Focus, but quarterbacks targeted him only 36 times. He caught 26 passes (fourth among MU wideouts) for 173 yards (eighth among MU wideouts). He ran for a touchdown but didn’t catch a TD pass.
