Independence police say they have arrested a juvenile male in connection with Sept. 5 shooting at Independence Center and are not looking for any additional suspects. The juvenile was arrested Tuesday evening, police said, though no charges had been released yet as of Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported from the shooting, which happened Labor Day afternoon. According to police, it happened in a common area, during a disturbance between a couple of people on a bridge over the food court. At least one person fired three shots and ran off before an off-duty police officer working security, as well as the mall’s own security personnel, arrived. Most people in the mall hid inside stores after hearing shots, and officers from several agencies went store to store to clear the scene.
