JANICE POLLOCK HAMILTON PETERIE
January 27, 2023
in Obituaries

Janice “Jan” Peterie, 85, passed away on December 25, 2022 at her Woodland Park, CO home with her family at her side following a brief illness. Jan was born on September 11, 1937 and was a graduate of Lee’s Summit High School in 1955. Jan married David Hamilton later that year and together they raised four children while living in Independence. She was a long time active member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she helped with the music program and enjoyed volunteering with church youth. Following her divorce in 1978, she worked at Liberty Hospital and later with the United States Postal Service from where she retired in 1997. She enjoyed many years of retirement, relocating to the beautiful mountains of Woodland Park. In 2007, following a chance reconnection and brief courtship, she married her childhood sweetheart, David Peterie, and joined him at his home in Trenton, MO. She stayed there until his passing in 2013, and then returned to Woodland Park, CO where she remained for the rest of her years. Jan is survived by her daughter Gina Loechler, and sons Jonathan, Michael (Fran), and David Paul (Marilia) Hamilton. She also leaves one sister Arlene Finklang, and two sisters-in-law, Christy Ogle and Joyce Greene. Jan also leaves behind a legacy of love and family, as demonstrated in the way so many came to visit and be at her side in her final days. She was loved beyond measure and will also be missed dearly by her eleven grandchildren and twenty seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Edinburg Baptist Church at 530 NW Church Street in Trenton, MO on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at 2:30 p.m. Interment will take place on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the Powersville, MO cemetery at 10 a.m. Donations may be made to the Edinburg Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
