One hundred years ago in The Independence Examiner, most photos were nothing more than head-and-shoulders shots of newsmakers, and there were few photos on page 1. On most days, in the center at the top of page 1, there would be a one-panel cartoon, sometimes with a comment on the news of the day but often more of a gentle and humorous observation about daily life. This cartoon appeared 100 years ago this week.
