Darrel W. McBroom was called home by the Lord on May 23, 2022 at the age of 80.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon. His two sons, Darrin McBroom (Elisa) of Des Moines, Iowa, Brian McBroom (Elizabeth), and three grandchildren, Nathan, Ian, and Cassie of Frisco, Texas.

He has one sister, Ruth (Jack) Bertaux of Landers, Calif.

Darrel worked for and retired from the city of Independence, Mo., Water Dept. He was a member of the City of Independence Lagers Retirees, Chapter 1.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lauretta McBroom, and one sister, Rose Ann Latimer of Mayville, N.Y.

The family would like to thank Cross Creek at Lee’s Summit and Ascend Hospice for the love and care he received from them.

Darrel was a good man.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence. Darrel’s funeral service will begin on Friday, June 24 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery.
