Coeanna Mary Obermeyer, 94, of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Oak Ridge Assisted Living Center in Richmond.
 Coeanna was born on January 5, 1928, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Claude and Lena (Hartman) Danner. Coeanna was raised and educated in the Courtney, Missouri River bottoms of Independence, graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Merle Wayne Obermeyer of Independence on October 3, 1948. Together they raised two children, while spending their life farming and co-owning/operating Obermeyer Greenhouse (28 years). Coeanna was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Independence, where she bowled in the church league and quilted with the Busy Fingers. She also drove a school bus for Fort Osage for many years. Coeanna and Merle enjoyed family trips to Lake of the Ozarks, vacationing with their friends, and attending their grandkids’ activities.
 Coeanna was preceded in death by her ornery husband Merle on December 4, 2016, as well as her beloved parents and two sisters, Aleta Walker and Keolna Angelides. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Charlotte Obermeyer of Independence, and one daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Dwayne Penny of Richmond, five grandchildren; Jared (Lisa) Obermeyer, Erin (Aaron) Reese, Joshua Obermeyer, Mary Penny and Emma Penny, and seven great-grandchildren; Ashley Obermeyer, Ethan Obermeyer, Analiese Obermeyer, Mina Obermeyer, Ella Reese, Allison Reese, and Griffin Odneal.
 Funeral services for Coeanna were held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Independence, with graveside service at the New Salem Cemetery in Independence. Visitation was held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the church.
