Shirley (Lee) Simmons passed away on July 17, one day before her 96th birthday. Lee is preceded in death by her husband Eldon J Simmons. Lee grew up in Detroit, Mich., but lived in Independence, Mo. for over 60 years. Married to Eldon J Simmons for 74 years.

Lee had five children, 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Lee retired as a 4th grade teacher with the Kansas City Public School District in 1975 and enjoyed a long and happy retirement with her husband and family. Lee was a member of the Community of Christ church and was active in the church until her death. Lee was much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
