Carolyn Cooper, 80, of Independence, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Truman Medical Center, Kansas City. She was born on June 7, 1942, near Lakeview, Missouri, a daughter of Edgar and Vida (Burns) Lutjen.
She attended Ross School near Lakeview. Carolyn moved with her family to the Kansas City area, graduated from Ruskin High School and later beauty school. On January 20, 1968, at Peace Lutheran Church in Kansas City, she was united in marriage to George Horace Cooper.
Carolyn worked as a hairdresser and then cleaned houses in Overland Park, Kansas, and Lee’s Summit, retiring in 2018. She enjoyed spending time with her family, being at home, cooking, and talking on the phone.
She is survived by her nephews, Donny Lutjen, Shannon Lutjen, Troy Lutjen; and nieces, Annissa Sibert and Jennifer Cornwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Vida Lutjen, her husband George Cooper, two brothers, Donald Lutjen and Terry Lutjen, and a nephew, David Lutjen.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery near Cole Camp.
