Genevieve M. Seedorff died March 25, 2009
Genevieve M. Seedorff, 84, passed away on the 25th of March, 2009.
Genevieve was born May 2, 1924 to Dewey and Estella Thompson in Arlington, IA. She was married to Leslie A. Seedorff for 63 years; together they had eight loving children. Gen and Les loved to travel and visit friends and family and were avid card players. Genevieve, also know as The Prairie Sweetheart on KOEL radio in Oelwein, IA, was very involved in her church, loved spending time with her family, and always had a song to sing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Keith Thompson; her husband, Leslie; her sons, Dean and John Seedorff; daughter, Diane Layman; and grandson, Christopher Seedorff.
She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Thompson and wife Careece of Lisbon, IA; sister, Mary Alta Hunt and husband Paul of Oelwein, IA; sister-in-law, Janene Thompson of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother-in-law, Bob Seedorff and wife Katherine of Armstrong, MO; daughters, Alice Dennis and husband Leroy, Linda Amos and husband Fred, and Brenda Ray and husband Darrell of Independence, MO, Vonna Seedorff of Topeka, KS; and son, Randall Seedorff and wife Maria of Liberty, MO; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on March 28 at Clay County Christian Church, 1200 B Hwy, Liberty, MO 64068. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and doctors at Saint Luke’s East Hospital and Kansas City Hospice House for taking such wonderful care of Genevieve.
