William Chrisman High School’s Garden Club is under way after students and staff planted the first batch of crops earlier this month. The new Garden Club was formed in January when the planning process began. Through the connections of the school’s Community Coordinator Rudy Summerville, Caring Communities and Kansas City Community Gardens granted the school money to plant a garden in the courtyard by the gymnasium and Little Theater. In February, the foundation for the garden was set as students and staff planned for the crops, created raised flower beds and created a schedule for caring for the gardens.
