Household hazardous waste collections are coming up in Eastern Jackson County.

Common household hazardous products include paint, paint strippers, varnishes, adhesives and glues, hobby supplies , batteries, motor oil, compact florescent light bulbs, antifreeze, lawn and garden chemicals and pesticides. These are items that cannot be thrown into the regular trash.

Upcoming events include:

• April 7, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the lot between Kansas and Walnut avenues just off the Independence Square.

•  April 21, 8 a.m. to noon, Pink Hill Park in Blue Springs. At this event, only antifreeze, batteries, paint and motor oil are accepted.
There are also a permanent dropout sites at:

• 4707 Deramus St. Kansas City, just south of the Chouteau Bridge. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. No appointment needed. Call 816-513-8400..
