n Tryouts: Blue Springs Storm competitive baseball team looking for players who played 8U this spring to play 9U fall ball in 2013/spring 2014 season. Team will play 9U in fall and 10U in spring as well as 2 or 3 tournaments per month in spring. Team has several coaches with several years experience coaching high levels of competitive baseball. Team practices throughout the year and works around other fall/winter sports as needed and includes free one-on-one sessions with players. n Tryouts: 12U AA Wolverines seeking coachable athletes who can play multiple positions, have sound fundamentals and hustle. Must also have good attitude and strong desire to play and progress in the game of baseball. All positions are open for competition. This will be evaluated at each practice and game. Playing time will be earned,not given. Pitching, catching, middle infielder and strong hitters are a plus. Also need a strong outfielder who can also pitch and play middle infield. Team will have ongoing tryouts until it can build a solid 2013 spring/summer roster to finish out 11U season. n 6th Annual Gumpy’s Foundation Golf Tournament, Sept. 26 at Drumm Farm Golf Club in Independence. Four-person scramble costs $100 per player or $400 per team and includes greens fees, cart, range balls, golf shirt, goodie bag, banquet dinner and contests. Registration starts at 11 a.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. A $40 Super Ticket is also available and includes two mulligans, 10 raffle tickets, special raffle ticket for a grand prize drawing, two drink tickets, two putts in putting contest, chance to shoot for $100,000, chance to win a vacation, a $10 Golf Smith gift card and a $29.95 certificate for Razor hybrid or wedge ($120 value). n 2013 Park University Golf Scramble, a four-person tournament that benefits the University’s athletic programs, is scheduled for Sept. 26, at Tiffany Greens Golf Club in Kansas City. Scramble begins with registration and a continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Lunch and an awards program immediately follows the completion of the tournament. Cost is $125 per golfer or $500 for four-person team. Fees include 18 holes of golf with a cart, continental breakfast and lunch, driving range access prior to the event, on-course games, contests and refreshments. In addition, a variety of sponsorship packages are available, ranging in price from $1,000 to $5,000.
