Cats' Donohoe honored by Chiefs

Blue Springs football coach Kelly Donohoe is this week’s Missouri recipient of Chiefs High School Coach of the Week Award.

Donohoe, who is in his 14th season at the helm of the Wildcats, and Kansas recipient Dustin Delaney of Shawnee Mission East each will receive congratulatory footballs signed by Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, in addition to a special-edition hat. Their respective schools will receive a $500 grant toward player health and safety equipment and/or education, and they will be finalists for the state’s Chiefs Coach of the Year Award.

Former Chiefs linebacker and current Director of Special Events Gary Spani will visit the winners each week for a special presentation at their respective schools.

Donohoe’s Blue Springs team, the defending Class 6 state champions and current No. 1-ranked squad this season, defeated Class 5 No. 1 Lee’s Summit West last week, 42-35.
