Eastern Jackson County residents have an opportunity to learn how to become a qualified vendor for the largest employers in the area.
Independence Chamber of Commerce is hosting Business Development Day at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 21 at the Independence Hilton Garden Inn, 19677 E. Jackson Drive.
The chamber and employers such as AT&T, Wal-Mart, HCA Midwest and ATK will attend.
The event kicks off with a luncheon by Hereford House, along with time for networking with area business people. Around noon, a speaker will present how changing procurement procedures used by large corporations provide small businesses new opportunities. Then small-business owners will have a chance to meet in groups with procurement officers from the large companies.
Conversations with individual large company representatives will be scheduled in 20 to 30 minute intervals and can be made by appointment prior to the event. Appointments can be arranged starting Feb. 10.
Admission fee is $50 per small business or individual attending. For more information, contact Alex Colley at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.iChamber.biz.
