The Blue Springs South girls swimming and diving team claimed nine event wins to sweep a four-team meet Wednesday.
The Jaguars, despite having no divers compete, topped Truman (231-67), William Chrisman (230-35) and Liberty North (181-120) at Henley Aquatic Center.
Truman fell 221-77 to Liberty North but beat Chrisman 183-63.
Bailey Barnett and Kayla Canon each won two events to spark South. Barnett prevailed in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.26) and 100 freestyle (58.26), while Canon claimed wins in back-to-back events, the 100 backstroke (1:06.67) and 100 breaststroke (1:19.07).
Sydney Dillon won the 50 freestyle (26.65), Kadie Clark won the 500 freestyle and South swept the three relays.
“Tonight was a great opportunity for us to take our varsity girls to the pool we will be swimming varsity conference at next week,” South coach Errich Oberlander said. “It was all about working out the kinks with the blocks and walls since we haven't had the chance to swim there yet this year.”
Sarah Mancini took fourth in diving and Allison Timko finished fifth in the 500 freestyle to lead Truman.
Lexi Parsons was fifth in the 50 free and seventh in the 100 free to pace Chrisman.
On Tuesday, Blue Springs South fell 195-116 to Park Hill South but beat St. Joseph Central (166-140), Pembroke Hill (214-67), O’Hara (236-31) and Barstow (228-43) at the Blue Springs Family YMCA.
Dillon won the 200 freestyle (2:07.41) and Allie Steinhauser won diving (224.70 points) for the Jaguars’ lone victories. Claiming third place for South were Emily Cook (200 IM), Marley Brown (diving), Kadie Clark (100 butterfly) and Taylor Branson (100 free).
“(It) was a chance to see one of the best teams in the state in Park Hill South,” Oberlander said of Tuesday’s meet. “We once again had a nice meet against some good teams.”
