Experience a Civil War Encampment during Family Fun Day at the National Frontier Trails Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 19 at the Trails Museum, 318 W. Pacific Ave., Independence.
Visitors may explore a Civil War camp and join in trails-related craft activities, making a pretend clay bullet and write with a quill pen. Meet Civil War soldiers and cavalry officers, and learn about medicine, weapons, and living conditions during the war. The event will also include learning about the history of the two Battles of Independence.
Covered wagon tours are free with paid museum admission. Outdoor activities are free, and admission to the museum is $6 for adults, $5 seniors and $3 for children, ages 5 and under are free. For more information, call 816-325-7575.
