The Blue Springs South Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library is offering the following activities for the month of August. The library is located at 2220 S. Missouri 7. All activities are free, but registration is required, call 816-229-3571.

• Super Science Spectacular, for all ages, 10 a.m. Aug. 1. Come celebrate the end of Fizz, Boom, Read! Enjoy our activities and demonstrations and show us how you used science this summer by bringing in a completed experiment or a picture of your science project to display at the branch.

• Teens at the Library, 7 p.m. Aug. 4, 18, 25. Make crafts, watch movies, play games and more.

• Early Literacy Playdate, for all ages, 10 a.m. Aug. 4, 12, 20 and 28. Playing isn’t just for fun. Our activity stations will show how playing can build your child’s early literacy skills.

• Container Gardening for the Urban Farmer, for adults, 7 p.m. Aug. 5. Learn how to build window/patio boxes and create a screen trellis for the plants to climb. You’ll learn how to select plants for your exposure and what thrives in varying conditions. You’ll receive a comprehensive handout with building plans, plants, and local resources.

• Victor and Penny: Antique Pop, for ages 6 and older, 2 p.m. Aug. 7. Victor and Penny are a vocal duo that offers up antique pop from the 1930s and 1940s on ukulele and an old electric guitar. They bring a fresh twist to old standards and some more modern tunes .

• Teen Fest, 2 p.m. Aug. 23. Bring your friends and come celebrate what’s happening at the library. Call to see what all of the festivities are for.

• Kids Create, for ages 6 and older, 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Kids will spark their imagination and express themselves through art and craft activities.
