WHAT: Truman High School presents “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel.”

The story takes place in a late 19th century coastal town where carnival barker Billy Bigelow and millworker Julie Jordan have a romance that comes with the price of their jobs.  In order to provide for his unborn child and Julie, Billy attempts a robbery that somehow gives him an opportunity to make everything right.

WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 20; Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.  Plus a matinee performance Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m.

WHERE: Truman High School auditorium, 3301 S. Noland Road in Independence

TICKETS: $7 in advance by calling the school at 816-521-5350 and $8 at the door.

WHY SHOULD YOU GO SEE IT?: “It’s considered the best Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, and it has a moving story that everyone can relate to with themes of guilt and forgiveness,” said “Carousel” director and Truman High School theater instructor Ron Meyer.
