The Major Arena Soccer League has now dropped to 22 teams.
On Tuesday, the MASL announced it had accepted the resignation of Hidalgo La Fiera FC from the league.
The team, based in Hidalgo, Texas, entered the Professional Arena Soccer League in 2012 as the Rio Grande Valley Flash. The team was part of PASL’s merger with the Major Indoor Soccer League to form the MASL starting with this season.
The league said the Monterrey Flash will take Hidalgo’s place in a game against the Brownsville Barracudas on Dec. 27 at Brownsville, Texas. Oxford City FC will take Hidalgo’s place in a game at the Dallas Sidekicks on Jan. 3. The league said other schedule changes involving Hidalgo will be announced in the next week.
The Missouri Comets did not have a game against Hidalgo scheduled for this season.
Hidalgo had just defeated Dallas 4-3 on Sunday in Hidalgo and the team was 5-3 in the MASL’s Southern Division.
