Senior right hander Harley Decker fired a no-hitter, and Van Horn won its third straight with a 6-0 Crossroads Conference win over Sherwood at Roper Stadium.

Decker struck out six and yielded just three walks a hit batter over seven innings. He stranded two each in the first and second innings, then retired 14 in a row into the seventh.

“He was throwing his breaking ball for a strike anytime,” Van Horn coach Jay Kolster said after his team improved to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play. “We were using the breaking ball in typical fastball counts, and we played really clean defense.”

Brandon Borchert and Nathan Ingold (double) each had a run, two hits and two RBIs for the Falcons.

OAK GROVE 9, PLEASANT HILL 6: The Panthers rapped 13 hits and improved to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the MRVC West with Tuesday’s win.

Josh Lewis (3 runs), Tanner Lowery (2 RBIs), winning pitcher Austin Reader (2 RBIs), Quin Schneiders and Zach Hipsher had two hits apiece for the Panthers, who took a 5-2 lead with a four-run third.

“This was a good team victory tonight,” Oak Grove coach Kirk Sears said. “Everyone on the field contributed in some way tonight. Our kids battled all game and came away with a good win over a good club. Putting up nine runs against them today was pretty impressive as they have not given up many runs in their six previous games.”

Reader scattered six hits and four walks in 5 2/3 innings to earn his first win of the season, and Devon Hudson went 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his firs save.

Pleasant Hill fell to 4-3 and 2-1.

GRAIN VALLEY 21, EXCELSIOR SPRINGS 1: The Eagles improved to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the MRVC West with Tuesday’s big win.
