Jackson County Parks & Recreation is holding Children’s Day and National Trails Day from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 6 at Missouri Town 1855, 8010 E. Park Road, Lee’s Summit.

A variety of traditional games and activities will be offered, including gunnysack races, stilts, tug-of-war, marbles and more. Special crafts projects, such as rope making and tin punching, will give your children a take-home memento. Every child is a winner when they participate in an old-fashioned pie eating contest, plus the Missouri Town Musicians and Dancers will show off their talent. The ox team will demonstrate their learned skills under the command of their drover, and why not try your hand at buffalo chip throwing.

In observance of National Trails Day, a special exhibit will provide information about the ever-expanding Jackson County Biking and Hiking Trails System.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children 5 to 13 and seniors, and children under 5 are free. For more information, visit www.MakeYourDayHere.com
