INDEPENDENCE - Allen Austin, 79, of Independence passed away from complications due to Parkinson’s Disease on February 15, 2022, at Olathe Hospice House with his wife, Tracy, by his side. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 5th, noon to 4p, w/the actual service starting at 1p at Tri-City Baptist Church, 430 NE Duncan Rd, Blue Springs, MO 64014.

Robert Lawrence Phillips

Robert L. “Bob” Phillips was born December 30,1932 in McClure, Illinois to Sydney Eugene Phillips and Evelyn Ramona Lamb. He passed away peacefully on February 20, 2022 at Legacy Village Retirement Community in Castle Pines, Colorado at the age of 89. Bob loved great food, fishing, family reunions, and just a good time in general. He was proud to be a Mason and a Shriner. A graduate of the School of Mines in Rolla, Missouri, Bob enjoyed a long and successful career as an electrical engineer at Southwestern Bell in Kansas City, Missouri, retiring after 35 years. Bob is survived by his children, Ramona Hamline (Steve) and Jim Phillips (Mishel) and grandchildren Rachel Dun, Melissa Gilstrap (Andrew), Mike Hamline (Brittany), and Zachary, Wesley, and Collin Phillips. He was blessed with seven great-grandchildren Noah and Lydia Gilstrap, Hannah, Jonah and Eden Burks, Logan Phillips, and Lilly May Phillips. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Doris Janet Phillips, twin sons Samuel and Daniel Phillips and granddaughter Erica Phillips. Bob will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Bear Canon Cemetery, Sedalia, Colorado next to his wife.
