City able to overcome staffing issues

Going into last weekend's snow event, the city of Independence put out a notice to residents it was down about 25 percent of its normal crew, so some streets might be delayed before they see a plow. Semester starts with no COVID requirements

The University of Missouri’s Columbia campus began the spring semester as planned Tuesday with no option for online classes, masking or vaccination requirements, as UM System President and campus Chancellor Mun Choi wrote to faculty leaders Friday.

Time for city to get a no-chain ordinance

In August of 2008, Independence changed the ordinance limiting pets to two dogs and two cats to allow four animals in any combination. This helped the local shelter and rescue groups adopt out more dogs.
