Fast start propels Truman to third place in tourney

The Truman girls basketball team used a strong start and a balanced attack to take third place in the Gold Division of the Winnetonka Tournament. Layla Scott fired in 18 points to lead the Patriots to a 54-47 win over Lee’s Summit in the division thirdplace game Friday.

Mizzou eager for Armed Forces Bowl against Army

Missouri athletic director Desiree Reed-Francois doesn’t feel like the Tigers were the Southeastern Conference’s odd team out during the bowl selection process. Yes, MU was the only league team not selected to the College Football Playoff or a previous league-affiliated bowl, but she and Missouri head football coach Eli Drinkwitz value the opportunity of the Armed Forces Bowl.
