Senate ethics panel must address senators’ Jan. 6 actions

Ten months after a group of Senate Democrats lodged ethics complaints into the conduct of Republican Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri and Ted Cruz of Texas regarding their roles in sparking the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, the Senate Ethics Committee has shown no sign of movement. Both senators tell Politico they haven’t even been contacted by the committee.

Multiple candidates force city to hold primary

To win re-election next April, Independence's mayor and at-large City Council members will first have to go through primary elections. Six mayoral candidates and five council at-large candidates filed candidacy forms and the necessary signatures before last week's deadline to be on the ballot, including two-term Mayor Eileen Weir and incumbent council members Karen DeLuccie and Mike Huff.
