Mizzou seeking bowl eligibility against rival Arkansas

The situation could not seem simpler for Missouri heading into Friday’s rivalry game with Arkansas: Win and the Tigers qualify for a bowl game, lose and they’re sitting home for the holidays. Yet there is more riding on the outcome than the chance to play one more game in December in balmy weather.

City faces another pricey repair

A Blue Springs South High School student was taken into custody Monday for a threat posted on social media, police said. According to Blue Springs police, they received a report that day about the social media threat and along with the school district investigated the threat and identified who had posted it.

Mizzou women stay unbeaten with stifling defense

The Missouri women’s basketball team used a stout defense to extend its undefeated start to six games Monday. The Tigers (6-0) held Wake Forest to a season-low 28.8% shooting from the field – including just 17% in the first half – on the way to a 69-47 rout of the Demon Deacons in the opening contest of the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau, Bahamas.

Freshman’s late basket helps Wildcats win opener

Columbia Battle made the Blue Springs boys basketball team battle for a win in its season opener. Freshman Lucas Maciel drained a 3-pointer with less than a minute remaining put the Wildcats ahead for good as they claimed a 48-44 victory over the Spartans Monday night in Columbia.

Getting into the holidays, hiking and history
