Voters approved East Independence site in 2016; board wants closer look at costs The new East Independence branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library, a project promised when voters decisively said yes to a levy increase in 2016, has not yet been approved by the library’s Board of Trustees, though the project is not delayed or on hold. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to wait until next month to possibly approve a guaranteed maximum price of $6.54 million, in order to gather more financial information.
