Independence council hits pause, may add safeguards for residents Amid concerns raised by neighbors about proposed short-term rental houses in Independence, the City Council has hit the pause button on new applications to rezone houses for that purpose, and it will consider additional regulations and guidelines. The council last week approved a six-month moratorium on new applications, and next week it is to consider changing the City Code, adding to short-term rental regulations put in place in 2018 and 2019.
