50 migrants die after trailer abandoned in Texas heat

SAN ANTONIO — Fifty people died after being abandoned in a tractor-trailer without air conditioning in the sweltering Texas heat, one of the worst tragedies to claim the lives of migrants smuggled across the border from Mexico. More than a dozen people — their bodies hot to the touch — were taken to hospitals, including four children.

Dr. George T. Hackleman

Dr. George T. Hackleman passed away on June 8, 2022, at the age of 89. He was born on December 12, 1932, in Wellington, Mo. He joined the Navy, became a Naval Corpsman, and served in the Korean War. Following his military service, he graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1969. He started his own chiropractic office in Blue Springs, Mo. and grew it into a successful practice for more than 30 years. He served many years on the MSCA District 2 board including serving as past president of the board. He and his wife Dolores moved to Lamar in 2010 to retire. He loved chiropractic medicine and helping improve the health of his patients. He is preceded in death by his wife Dolores Hackleman. He is survived by his daughter Dr. Elizabeth Hackleman (Dr. Dana Mercer), his son Dr. Brian Hackleman (Mindy Hackleman) grandchildren Abigail, Madalynn, Grace and his nephew Jason Whiting (Gina Mannino) daughter Gracie Gunter.
