The Mid-Continent Public Library system, with three dozen facilities across three counties, is one of the best assets this community has, but it is under assault from within. The immediate issue is that the system’s new fiscal year is two weeks away, and some board members have stymied approval of the budget.

Deborah Loraine Ashworth passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. She was 67. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21 from 1-2 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Mo. Her memorial service will immediately follow.
