Patsy Ann Pratt

Blue Springs, Mo. - Patsy Ann Pratt, 73, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Mo. Cremation is planned with burial to take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Ten Mile, Tenn. Memorial contributions can be made to the CVICU at St Luke’s Plaza. Patsy was born on March 19, 1949 in Oliver Springs, Tenn., to Paul and Nell Sharp. Patsy graduated from Raytown South High School in 1967. Patsy worked for 43 years at Bendix (later Allied-Signal, Honeywell). She loved to travel and watch her Dallas Cowboys and KC Chiefs. But, most of all, she fiercely loved her family. She was funny and passionate (and some would even say bossy). She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Wilson (Derek); her sister, Joyce Kyker; and two wonderful sisters (Sandy and Kay) and one brother (Larry) by marriage, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, John.

Robert Hatten Jones, 77, born October 6, 1944, and passed away May 25, 2022. Service 10:30 a.m., June 19th at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Samantha Marie Long

Samantha Marie Long, 44, of Independence, Missouri passed away unexpectedly May 31, 2022 at home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 June 18th at 705 W. Walnut St. in Independence. Samantha was born July 5, 1977 in Lake County, California. Samantha moved with her family to Missouri as an infant and lived in Independence her entire life. She attended Truman High School and House of Heavilin Beauty College. Together with Jamie Brizendine they raised 4 children: Mikaela, Austin, Noah, and Oliver. Samantha was a devoted mother and loved her children more than anything. She was also a loving daughter and sister. She loved her family, babies, animals, all things Paris, and antique shopping. She was proceeded in death by her mother Diane E. Long, her maternal grandparents Joy and Bob Bateman, and paternal grandparents Mary and Norman Long. Samantha is survived by her children Mikaela Long, Austin Long, Noah Long, and Oliver Brizendine, her father Michael G. Long, her sister Jennifer Long, and many loving relatives and friends.

Fast fun for FITNESS

A few years ago, about the time he was retiring from fulltime work, Ray Hubbard was working out at an area facility when he “heard this noise in the gymnasium.” It was the unique popping sound of a pickleball racquet hitting the ball, and it also hit Hubbard’s curiosity. The 1974 Blue Springs High School alum, who lives outside of Lee’s Summit and on Lake Tapawingo after retiring from construction and school maintenance work, soon found a talent for the emerging game – similar to tennis but at a quicker pace and played on a smaller court – and quickly became a dedicated player.

Charles Adam Fischer

Charles Adam Fischer went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Adam was born in Galena, MO on September 22, 1933 to Adam Fischer and Edna Barnes.
