Police say Tulsa gunman targeted surgeon

A man who blamed his surgeon for continuing pain after a recent back operation bought an AR-style rifle and opened fire hours later at a Tulsa medical office, killing the doctor and three other people in an attack that ended with him taking his own life, police said Thursday.

Charles David Miller Sr. of Independence, Mo., passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022. He was 83 years old. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 9-10 a.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel (18020 E 39th St. Independence, MO 64055). Service will begin at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Mound Grove Cemetery.

Kirk Edward Brewer

Kirk Edward Brewer, 54, of Blue Springs, Mo. passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022. Kirk was born to Virgil and Ione Brewer in Independence, Mo. on December 2, 1967. Kirk graduated from Truman High School, Independence School District in 1986. During his school years he belonged to Boy Scout Troop 224 at Enoch Hill RLDS Church and attended scout camp each year with his father. Scouting was a major part of his life and meant a great deal during his teenage years. After high school he went on to take classes from the University of Phoenix. Kirk worked for AT&T and Lab Corp for a number of years. He married Aletha Louise Sedig in 1989. Kirk is survived by his wife, Aletha, their two sons Ian and Galen, along with a number of siblings and friends. A graveside service will be at a later date.
