Missouri’s dysfunctional General Assembly got little done again this year

The 2022 regular session of the Missouri General Assembly was the most dysfunctional I can remember in more than 50 years covering the statehouse. Endless Senate filibusters stalled action for weeks on major issues for Missourians -- contributing to the second lowest percentage of bills passed in an annual session in more than one-third of a century.

Falcons’ winning season halted

Despite another loss to Kearney in the district tournament, Van Horn coach Chris Corrie acknowledged that his seniors set a high bar for the future. Kearney continued its postseason dominance over his Falcons in the opening round of the Class 3 District 8 tournament on Saturday.

Fort Osage advances five to sectional meet

The Fort Osage track and field team will be sending five athletes to the Class 5 Sectional 4 meet. Paige Franks led the Indians with a second-place finish in the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 24 seconds in the Class 5 District 8 meet Saturday at Liberty High School.
