Dad’s bursts of enthusiasm collide with boys’ bedtime

DEAR ABBY: My husband gets very upset when our 4-year-old sons don’t share his enthusiasm over something that excites him. He wants them (and me) to jump up and down or cheer when he’s excited about something. The problem is, he tends to share his news when we’re getting ready for bed or just plain tired. I feel guilty for not acquiescing, but at the same time, I don’t want to fake it. Any suggestions for a compromise, please? -- AT A LOSS IN TEXAS

Citizens’ rights to privacy are open to attack

It should be no surprise to anyone that Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision of the United States Supreme Court decided in 1973, would be overturned after Justices Kavanaugh, Gorsuch and Coney Barrett were appointed during the last administration. Clearly the votes were present to reverse Roe v. Wade, and therefore the leaked opinion authored by Justice Alito should come as no surprise to anyone.

What did I come in here for?

The house was quiet, which wasn’t unusual, although the dog was sitting under the table without Dad nearby, and that wasn’t normal. After checking all the rooms, the basement and backyard, my mind was flooded with all kinds of scenarios of what could have happened.
