Eleven Independence residents have now taken out candidate packets to potentially file for the special election to fill the late Karen DeLuccie’s atlarge seat on the City Council. As of Friday morning, one resident, Bridget McCandless, had filed for the election.

Citizens’ rights to privacy are open to attack

It should be no surprise to anyone that Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision of the United States Supreme Court decided in 1973, would be overturned after Justices Kavanaugh, Gorsuch and Coney Barrett were appointed during the last administration. Clearly the votes were present to reverse Roe v. Wade, and therefore the leaked opinion authored by Justice Alito should come as no surprise to anyone.
